Totally new first post. Okay, the new challenge has started, though it's not due until August 29 so if you're not done with your set for challenge #4, don't worry. you still have time. I'm just letting people start early if they want to.

We've got a new website for it, too, which can be found here.

The theme this time is Heroes and Villains which leaves the possibilities wide open. Comic book superheroes, every day heroes like firefighters, or even that silent film baddie with the twisty mustache - there's a lot of room to play here. Hell, even a guy with multiple personalities who doesn't know from day to day whether he's going to help an old lady cross the street or push her in front of a bus. Be creative!

Oh, and when it comes time to submit entries, *please* don't send me a doll and tell me to post it if I think it fits the theme. You should decide if it fits the theme and submit it if you want to. The whole point of this challenge is to inspire you to create - not just for me to collect as many dolls as possible to pad the entry numbers. It's nice to have lots of entries, but you should really decide on your own if you think it fits the theme. You guys are all smart. Smile

ps- I changed it from "superheroes and villains" to just "heroes and villains" to open up the options some since I know most people would take a pretty narrow interpretation of the original.

Superheroes are fine with me. I've been reading Marvel's Runaways recently, I might do a cosplay set or something of the character's costumes.

Alright, well, since no one seems to have any objections (though it's a bit worrisome that only one person has any opinion at all) we'll go ahead and make the next theme Superheroes / Supervillains. Deadline is the end of August.

The dolls don't have to be comic book superheroes. My set is going to have more of a Rainbow Brite or She-Ra sort of feel to it. She's got magical powers, she uses them for good and saves the day a lot, and she's sort of singular, though she does have some friends who are similar. It's a minor stretch for me because I have such a narrow perception of what a superhero is, but it works.

Either way, as always, you can take a broad interpretation of the theme and run with it. It's about inspiration and having fun. Nothing more.

I should have the actual site up some time in the next few days. My friend and I are registering a domain together so as soon as he sets that up I can proceed.

I think I could try to do a small doll. I've long wished that there was a base out there for a super-strong looking female, all muscular and such; making one of my characters from City of Heroes would certainly provide for that. It would definitely have to be tiny, though, if I am to have a hope of getting Ninja vs. Pirate finished.

The pirate vs. ninja doll is due by the end of May. You have until the end of August to get the superhero one done so there's plenty of time. I just started it now so that anyone who didn't feel like doing a pirate/ninja doll could get started on this. It's pretty much the same as if I had kept the old schedule of 3 months per challenge, except I unveiled it a little early.

With the KTC #4 entries out, i feel a bit inspired. =D I'm definitely think I'm doing a doll for this one. I'm feeling a modern day Alice in Wonderland doll of Alice and the Queen of Hearts.Big Grin :rushes to sketchpad to draw the bases:

Slightly OT, is the KTC site being updated? ^^; I've tried clearing my cache and reloading it, but I'm still getting the same version (with the "Costumes" theme being listed as current).

You're probably going to the old site that I no longer have access to. The url is in the first post which is http://ktc.fuzzystars.net

And of course fairytales aren't too far off theme. I was going to do a fairytales theme eventually, but probably not until early next year. Do whatever you feel fits the theme, honestly. I want you guys to be inspired.

just wondering how everyone else is coming along with their sets. I'm working with a friend on a collab we're calling 'Diana Foxx, Supercosplayer!' My friend is... well.. just starting out on the artistic side, but it's good practice because he really does want to learn to draw.
first preview, mine (I'll show some of my friend's stuff later)

My set isn't really coming along at all. I've got a very small amount of stuff already drawn for her, but the best I can hope for this round is a small beta to present. It's a shame, too. I had so much inspiration back when I had no time.

IMO, betas are good for this challenge thing, especially if you intend on finishing the set, since the whole point of the challenge is inspiration and motivation Happy

Hazel and I are working on a collab. It seems to be going along slowly but I think it's beautiful.

I'm glad you think it's beautiful. Very Happy Because I think I might be the slow one. Crying or Very sad I've got several unfinished outfits already. But it's August already so I had better stop procrastinating. Sad

Is everyone still working on their dolls? The deadline is in just a couple of days, so I hope you're ready. I managed to slap together a beta in a few weeks and I'm pretty pleased with it, all things considered. I can't wait for you guys to play with it.
